چکیده

Abstract Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the primary motor cortex (M1) may have a beneficial effect on 24-hour retention learning in healthy older adults, but so far existing studies are small and inconclusive. In addition, it is suggested that conventional tDCS montage (CONV-tDCS) produce relatively non-focal compared to high-definition (HD-tDCS). At present, unclear whether depends delivery montage. Hence, this project examined supplementary M1 during sequence (MSL) large sample adults. Fifty-two subjects practiced serial reaction time task (SRTT) while receiving 1 session 20 minutes CONV- or HD-tDCS double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled crossover design. Stimulation intensity was set at mA. As outcome, we studied SRTT times retention. We found successful (pre-retention: p<0.001 post-retention: p=1.000) gains performance (pre-post: p<0.001) irrespective active sham (p=0.604). Also, these effects were unaffected by (p=0.845). conclude there no surplus value adding one Future research focus multiple sessions MSL long-term other consolidation outcomes. Effect of Motor Cortex Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)on the Strength and Endurance performance of Healthy Collegiate Subjects

Introduction: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique used to modify the activity of the cortex of the brain. This form of current is capable of inducing changes in the electrical activity inside and outside of the neurons, which leads to a change in the resting membrane potential and thus improves the efficiency of the neural synapse. Therefore, the aim of th...

Effect of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Auditory-Verbal Memory in Healthy Elderly

Background and purpose: Auditory-verbal memory decreases with age. One method to compensate this weakness is transcranial direct current stimulation. The current study investigated the effect of Anodal Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on auditory-verbal memory performance of healthy elderly people. Materials and methods: In a randomized clinical trial, 42 healthy subjects with no histor...

Motor Sequence Learning in Healthy Older Adults Is Not Necessarily Facilitated by Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)

Background: Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) of the primary motor cortex (M1) can modulate neuronal activity, and improve performance of basic motor tasks. The possibility that tDCS could assist in rehabilitation (e.g., for paresis post-stroke) offers hope but the evidence base is incomplete, with some behavioural studies reporting no effect of tDCS on complex motor learning. Olde...

Cerebellar direct current stimulation enhances motor learning in older adults.

Developing novel approaches to combat age related declines in motor function is key to maintaining health and function in older adults, a subgroup of the population that is rapidly growing. Motor adaptation, a form of motor learning, has been shown to be impaired in healthy older subjects compared with their younger counterparts. Here, we tested whether excitatory anodal transcranial direct cur...
